Setback to Comeback

Moses

By Pastor Greg Rodermond, November 17, 2024

Excuse #1: I'M UNQUALIFIED!

"But Moses protested to God, "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?"' Exodus 3:11 (NLT)

God answered, “I will be with you.” Exodus 3:12a (NLT)

If God is with you, nothing is impossible!

Excuse #2: I DON'T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS!

"But Moses protested, "If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,' they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?" Exodus 3:13 (NLT)

God replied to Moses, “I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14 (NLT)

You may not have all the answers but God does!

Excuse #3: THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME!

"But Moses protested again, "What if they won't believe me or listen to me? What if they say,‘The Lord never appeared to you’?'" Exodus 4:1 (NLT)

Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” "A shepherd's staff," Moses replied. Exodus 4:2 (NLT)

Three Answers

  1. A shepherd's staff- God can work miracles with ordinary objects. Exodus 4:3-5

  2. A leprous hand- God has unlimited power. Exodus 4:6-8

  3. Turning water into blood- God's power will convince the people. Exodus 4:9

God's power will convince people God is with you.

Excuse #4: I CAN'T DO IT!

But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I'm not very good with words. I never have been, and I'm not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Exodus 4:10 (NLT)

Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” Exodus 4:11-12 (NLT)

God is in control!

EXCUSE # 5: I DON'T WANT TO DO IT!

But Moses again pleaded, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.” Exodus 4:13(NLT)

Then the Lord became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you. Exodus 4:14(NLT)

Make yourself available to God, and God will do amazing things in your life.
